CDTA Curriculum
The Technical Training of students is found in the grades portion of the syllabus. From Primary – Grade 3 in the Junior levels, Grade 4-5 in the Senior levels and Intermediate, and Advanced 1 in the Major levels where each of these grades is designed to develop the dancers body alignment and co-ordination with overall ballet technique. As the dancer progresses through the syllabi grades the level of difficulty in the steps and the application of the technique becomes increasingly more challenging.
The Artistry Training of students is concentrated on in the Ballet Syllabus Enrichment Examinations. These examinations focus on the dancers ability to now use their ballet technique and steps that were developed in the previous grade examinations to perform a piece of choreography. Since, dance is a performing art these examinations have the students focus on musicality, creativity and performance with overall ballet technique thus, giving dancers a focus and attainable goals to reach for no matter what stage of development they are at in their dancing careers.Please remember all current members are encouraged to check the web page regularly for syllabus updates or Examiner notes.
Primary
The Primary ~ G2 level is the starting point for students who are new to dance or who have limited experience, and it provides a foundation in the fundamentals of the specific dance style, such as ballet, jazz, tap, or modern. The Primary ~ G2 level is designed to help students develop basic technique, coordination, and musicality, and to lay the foundation for more advanced levels in the syllabus.
G2 Dancing Class
The Primary ~ G2 level is the starting point for students who are new to dance or who have limited experience, and it provides a foundation in the fundamentals of the specific dance style, such as ballet, jazz, tap, or modern. The Primary ~ G2 level is designed to help students develop basic technique, coordination, and musicality, and to lay the foundation for more advanced levels in the syllabus.
G3 Dancing Class
The G3~ G4 level builds upon the foundation established in the G1~2 level and introduces more advanced steps and concepts, such as increased technical difficulty, longer combinations, and more intricate choreography. At the G3~ G4 level, students are expected to have a good grasp of the basic dance technique and are ready to continue to develop their skills and artistry. The G3~ G4 level is an important step in the dance syllabus as it helps students to progress towards the higher levels, where they can showcase their mastery of the dance style.
G4 Dancing Class

The G5~G6 level includes intricate choreography, longer combinations, and a higher level of technical difficulty. It is an important step in the dance syllabus for students who aspire to become professional dancers or dance teachers.
G7~8 Dancing Class
In the G7~G8 level, students are expected to possess a refined understanding of ballet technique, demonstrating exceptional control, precision, and strength in their movements. They will be exposed to even more intricate choreography, featuring complex combinations that require a heightened level of coordination and musicality.
At this stage, students will further explore the artistry of ballet, focusing on developing their own unique style and interpretation. They will be encouraged to express themselves with grace, fluidity, and emotional depth, bringing a captivating presence to their performances.
